Thousands of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles could be affected by an investigation recently opened by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) after receiving some complaints that the vehicles roll away unexpectedly, a January 3 report of Tech Times said.
Reports said the NHTSA opened an investigation on December 16 after they had been notified of seven incidents of Jaguar sedans and/or Land Rover SUVs unexpectedly moving out of place, as drivers claimed they shifted the transmission stick to “park” mode. At least four of the seven complaints received included an injured party. Complaints revealed that unexpected “rollaway” could happen if the vehicles’ engine is still running and the drivers only shift to park without engaged the parking breaks. According to the NHTSA, roughly 39,000 vehicles could be affected by their investigation. Reports revealed that the automaker may issue a recall if investigations showed that there is a defect in the vehicles.
