8 million defective food processors with injury risks recalled

After receiving 69 complaints, Stamford-based Conair Corp. issued a recall on an estimated 8 million Cuisinart food processors because their blades could cause laceration injuries to consumers, according to a report of cpsc.gov.

The potentially hazardous food processors were made available in the U.S. and Canada and sold for prices between $100 and $350. The riveted blades used in the 22 food processor models could break, causing small pieces of the blade to mix with processed food. Of the total of complaints received, 30 resulted in either tooth injuries or lacerations of the mouth. Conair said they will address the issue by offering free blade replacements for the affected food processor owners.
